Foreword
This Standard replaces the corresponding indexes of GB 13121-1991, Hygienic
Standard of Ceramics for Food Containers, GB 14147-1993, Permissible Limits of
Release of Lead or Cadmium from Ceramic Packaging Vessel in Contact with Food,
GB 8058-2003, Standard Permissible Limits and Testing Method for Release of Lead
or Cadmium from Ceramic Cookware, and GB/T 12651-2003, Permissible Limits of
Lead and Cadmium Release from Ceramic Ware in Contact with Food.
Compared with the above-mentioned standards, the main changes of this Standard
are as follows.
— it changes the name of the standard into “National Food Safety Standard –
Ceramic Ware”;
— it modifies the description of Scope;
— it increases Terms and Definitions;
— it modifies Sensory Requirements;
— it modifies Physicochemical Indexes;
— it increases basic requirements for migration test, and modifies conditions for
migration test; and
— it increases Designation.
National Food Safety Standard – Ceramic Ware
1 Scope
This Standard applies to ceramic ware in contact with food.
2 Terms and Definitions
2.1 flat ware
the ware whose depth from the margin of itself, along the horizontal plane, to its inside
lowest horizontal plane, is less than or equal to 25 mm
2.2 storage vessel
the hollow ware whose volume is greater than or equal to 3 L
2.3 hollow ware
the ware whose depth from the margin of itself, along the horizontal plane, to its inside
lowest horizontal plane, is greater than 25 mm
2.4 big hollow ware
the hollow ware whose volume is greater than or equal to 1.1 L and less than 3 L
2.5 small hollow ware (except cups)
the hollow ware whose volume is less than 1.1 L
2.6 cups
hollow wares which are used to contain water or beverages
2.7 cook ware
the ware which is used to heat and prepare food
3 Basic Requirements
Ceramic ware in contact with food shall meet the specifications of GB 4806.1
